Should I be updating the Linux packages installed on my PerfectMail server?

Category: General

Solution ID: 00000224

Summary:

Should I be maintaining the packages on my PerfectMail server? Should I update them or install new packages?

Answer:

In general, Linux administration is not needed; in fact it is discouraged. Updating rpm packages may result in a non-functioning PerfectMail server.

If you do need to update Linux packages you do so at your own risk. Make sure you have full backups and plan to recover in case there is an issue.

If you are running an older OS release of our product, you can download the latest release from our website: http://perfectmail.com/download
